Flowery paths, fresh air, the feeling of an excursion without special travel costs. The hikes that are organized this season in the mountains and trails of Attica have it all and are beneficial. We’ve found some of the best for you to make the most of your spring weekends.

In Parnitha with D-Euzin
Sunday 12 May at 21.00

A spectacular route of 9.5 kilometers (approx. 4 hours) suitable even for beginner hikers in good physical condition, goes around the peak of Mount Parnitha called Avgo, crossing fir-covered paths and passing through the Chounis Gorge and next to the famous Three Springs, before ending up at the Flambouri Shelter. In the gorge of Vouraikos with the Active Goat
Sunday, April 28 at 7.00

The magical canyon of Odontotos (Vouraikos in the world) is crossed by this fantastic route that is 14 kilometers long and is suitable for all types of hikers, and for children from 10 years old. “Our route moves along the lines of Odontotos from Zachlorou to Diakopto. We’ll pass through rock-cut tunnels, balance on train tracks, encounter metal bridges rising 30 meters above the canyon. Along the way, we will be accompanied by the sound of the river, which at this time will flow rapidly down the gorge. The flowering plane trees together with the pines, oleanders and olives will offer us their shade whenever we want to rest” say the organizers. At Lake Doxa with Backpack on Greece

An enjoyable, circular route of 11 kilometers (about 4 hours) in one of the most beautiful landscapes of Ziria, also suitable for beginner hikers in good physical condition. “Our route moves through a dense forest of firs and black pines, with clearings in between that reveal a panoramic view of the lake from above. On the plateau of Kerasia, we will have time for rest and photos, in an open field, with a wonderful view of Lake Doxa. Circling the route, we descend through a passable forest dirt road, ending up again at the lake, where we started” explain the organizers. With the Full Moon in the Forest of Kaisariani with Combo Ride
Wednesday, April 24 at 8:00 p.m

What if it’s everyday? An otherworldly, night hike in Hymettos under the light of the April moon has another grace. The route is 8 kilometers long, and lasts around 3 hours, and is easy, suitable even for beginner hikers. “We will walk on unknown but sought-after cycling paths, around and in the aesthetic forest of Kaisariani. The unobstructed view of the basin from the hill of Taxiarches will be wonderful. Sunset will coincide with our departure time. A beautiful playful, moonlit, night hike with off flashlights, where the night allows us and the clear sky, making our evening a powerful experience on the north side of the mountain” say the organizers. With the Full Moon in Parnitha with Trekking
Wednesday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m

Moonlit routes all the time, with this very tempting Trekking hike that is 5 kilometers long and difficulty level 2, i.e. it is also suitable for beginner hikers in very good physical condition. The route starts and ends at the Buffy Refuge. As the organizers say, “as soon as it gets dark and the birds retire to their nests, we start hiking in the unique fir forest of Attica. On our route we follow marked paths of the forest. The moon lights up the road (on full moon nights we don’t even need flashlights) and the tranquility of the forest enchants us! You can only hear the water from the springs and the wind that passes through the foliage of the imposing firs”. The participation fee is €17 per person. More information and reservations here.

In Pauliani with Stronger Every Mile

To the beautiful Pauliani and its park with the famous Iron Throne that made social media famous, this route that stretches for 7 satisfying kilometers takes us, it lasts about 4 hours and difficulty level 1, it is ideal for you who want to do the your first steps in the countryside. The cost of participation is €30 with travel to and from Athens, or €15 if you prefer to go by your own means and find the team there. Reservations and information here.

In the Zastani gorge in Poikilo Oros with D-Euzin

Do you know Poikilos Oros? Opportunity to get to know it: It is the mountain above Haidari, which you will be surprised to learn is crossed by ancient paths with a fantastic view that reaches the sea. The route is circular, just over 7 kilometers long, and is suitable for everyone. According to the organizers, “It will have ravines, sarras, rock edges, rock roofs, amazing views of the Triassic field and the Saronic gulf, and the unknown Karyatida of the Zastani gorge with its climbing field – and all this just a few minutes from the center of Athens.
