Greece will not send S-300 in Ukraine, said the Government Spokesman, Pavlos Marinakis, during the briefing of the political editors, responding to today’s publication of Financial Times that Greece and Spain are under heavy pressure from the EU and NATO to reinforce with air defense systems that Kiev has.

“There is not going to be any move that will even minimally endanger the deterrent capability or the air defense of our country. We have many times made many refutations, I answer you categorically even today“, said Mr. Marinakis.

SYRIZA talks about secret diplomacy

The publication provoked a reaction from SYRIZA, which accused the government of secret diplomacy and asked the prime minister to inform Parliament.

“After today’s reports by the government representative Mr. Marinakis in the briefing of the political editors, we call on Mr. Mitsotakis and the government to respond immediately on whether or not the Financial Times article is true, according to which Greece was pressured in the Council Summit of the EU, in order to grant the anti-missile systems S-300 to Ukraine”, notes SYRIZA-PS in a statement.

The FT revelations confirm the existence of secret government diplomacy as well as secret agreements in the making for Ukraine which Mr. Zelensky himself had revealed with his posts on social media thanking the Greek Prime Minister. Mr. Mitsotakis must immediately inform the National Delegation”, he adds.
