The resources to the Territorial Authority of the Association of Municipalities of South Athens (SYDNA), were decided within the framework of the Integrated Spatial Investment (ISP) that is part of the “Attiki” Program 2021-2027.

“After Athens and Piraeus, two Municipalities – to which through the “Attiki 2021-2027 Program” – we allocated a total of over 184 million euros for important infrastructure projects, the Association of Municipalities of South Athens takes its turn. We are strengthening the triptych: local entrepreneurship, tourism and culture for Kallithea, Alimos and Paleo Faliro – three municipalities in South Athens with indisputable cultural, geographical and environmental advantages – in order to put into practice everything we have committed to the citizens of Attica. And we will continue next week with the rest of the Municipalities of Attica”, said the Regional Governor of Attica, welcoming the Mayor of Alimos Andreas Kondylis, the Mayor of Kallithea Kostas Askounis and the Mayor of Palaio Faliro, Yiannis Foshitropoulos.

Mr. Hardalias added: “We use everything available financial tool and we want it to be used “effectively” in local communities. Our main concern is sustainable urban development, with the upgrading of basic infrastructure for the quality of life of citizens, the support of the new generation and the welfare state.

In this context, we create, among other things, Entrepreneurship Support Centeras well as start-up business clusters, we upgrade our buildings with energy, create “green” routes and immediately launch projects that support local employment, promote social entrepreneurship and improve the daily life of our fellow citizens with disabilities.

At the same time, we strengthen them our two main pillars: tourism and culture, focusing on the enormous development potential of our coastal front. We highlight our historical routes, significant archaeological sites, the architecture of the interwar period, the music of our refugees, but also the flavors of our sea. Both levels of Self-Government are joining forces. Together we are changing the future in our neighborhoods, always having the citizens of Attica at the core of our policy.”

In particular, from the 25.2 million euros:

-8.59 million euros will be given for the enhancement the competitiveness and extroversion of the regional economy (such as the strengthening of research and innovation, the exploitation of the benefits of digitization, the development and competitiveness of small and medium enterprises, etc.).

-9.86 million euros will be given to strengthen regional economic, social, environmental and cultural development and cohesion (such as bioclimatic upgrades in selected municipal buildings, the creation of smart e-culture, e-tourism and sustainable mobility applications, the supply and installation of an irrigation system in green areas, the construction of rainwater management projects and the development of a system for monitoring environmental parameters, etc.).

-6.55 million euros will be given for the promotion of regional social cohesion through the strengthening of mechanisms and services to support human resources, employment, education, health care, socio-economic inclusion, equal opportunities and addressing the risks of poverty and exclusion (improving the living conditions of people with disabilities , access to employment and activation measures for all, support of Lifelong Learning centers, balanced participation of the sexes in the labor market, social integration of people at risk, equal access to quality social and health services, etc.).

For his part, the Mayor of Alimos, Andreas Kondylis, stated: “The bet is to quickly and efficiently proceed with this big project, for which we are and will be judged. It is a great responsibility to manage and absorb quickly, so that we can all move forward – together – for cities with better infrastructure, for societies with greater cohesion and opportunities at work”.

“We will respond in the best way, so that this money can be used for the benefit of society, in necessary projects to upgrade the lives of our citizens,” said the Mayor of Kallithea, Kostas Askounis, while referring to Mr. Hardalia, he underlined: “I am sure, that we will have the undivided support of all the officials of the Region, but also yours personally, because you are the person who comes from the bowels of the Self-Government.
