The northern part of E65 has a total length of 70.5 km and a budget of 442.1 million euros. The general construction progress of the northern part is at 39.81%. In this section, anti-flood works, rainwater network, earthworks and small technical works have already been constructed. The new engraving favors its safety and operating conditions highway. At the same time, it significantly reduces construction costs, thus improving the environmental footprint.
Upon its completion, the northern part will join at the uneven Trikala interchange with the middle section of the E65 Xyniada – Trikala which has been in operation since December 2017. These approximately 80 km of modern, safe motorway have already given a new shape to travel from Athens to Trikala, Karditsa, Kalambaka and to all the popular tourist destinations of Western and Central Thessaly. A key improvement for all drivers is that now the dangerous bends in Domokos are bypassed, while the journey time to Trikala and Karditsa has been reduced by more than 30 minutes.
