An excursion of archaeological interest to the ancient Aiges of the prefecture of Imathia was carried out by the Association of Friends of the Chronological Museum of Larissa. Specifically, the members and the Archaeologists who participated, visited it
ancient theater and the Macedonian Palace, whose construction is attributed to Philip II (359-336 BC).

They had the opportunity to be informed by the excellent tour guide and Archaeologist Mr. Tasos Kakamanoudis, executive of the Imathia Antiquities Ephorate, about the excavations at the above archaeological site and to admire up close the partial restoration of the palace.

Then followed a visit to the “Multicentric Museum of Goats”, in which the participants toured the exhibition sections a) in the Atrium of the Palace, where part of the 2nd floor of its facade has been demolished, b)
in the Atrium of the Sculptures, where sculptures from the excavations in the city and the necropolis of Aige are exhibited, c) in its main exhibition, entitled “Memory of the Goats”, where through the findings the story of the Macedonians is attempted and the recovery of the lost memory of the ancient city and d) in the periodical exhibition “Ecumene Antidoron”, which approaches the phenomenon of the Hellenistic Ecumene, through the figures, as they are depicted on the coins.

The archaeological excursion continued with the visit to Palatitsia, to the Church of St. Dimitriou – a three-aisled basilica of the 16th century. A.D. – record with wall paintings, where in the narthex of the temple, in the representation of the Second Advent, the depiction of M. Alexander among the kings of the apocalypse is highlighted.

The whole activity was completed by going to the Grove of Agios Nikolaos of Naoussa, a wonderful natural area on the banks of the legendary river “Arapitsa”.
