In 2023, the market share of Pure electric BEVs reached 4.74% (6,379 classifications) and of PHEVs (rechargeable hybrids) at 6.57%, with 8,836 classifications.

The 3.4% increase in registrations of BEVs and PHEVs (2022: 7.9% market share, 2023: 11.3% market share) is due to the continuation of the “Go Electric” program, the installation of more charging stations and their increasing preference by individuals/companies.

According to data available from the Autonomous Department of Electric Mobility of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, in 2019 there were 70 publicly accessible recharging points, while today, according to the data of the Registry of Infrastructure and Electric Mobility Market Bodies (M.Y.F.A.H.) , these amount to 5,566 throughout the country, of which 937 are in the Aegean islands, Iptanis and Crete.

At these points, 5,566 electric vehicles can be charged simultaneously.

The penetration of electric vehicles, as the ministry claims, is increasing satisfactorily in the vehicle fleet mix.

According to data from the Association of Automobile Dealers and Dealers (SEAA), the registrations of purely electric passenger cars, from 2013 to February 2024, amount to 13,578.

According to the ministry, the number of publicly accessible recharging points is relatively satisfactory in relation to the pure electric cars in circulation, as 1 recharging point corresponds to approximately 2.5 electric cars.

The companies active in electric mobility

Due to the development of electric mobility in the country, a new market of companies active in electric mobility has been created.

Specifically, in M.Y.F.A.H. 59 Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Operators (F.E.Y.F.H.O.) and 29 E-Mobility Service Providers (P.Y.H.) have been registered to date.

As is well known, the installation of publicly accessible recharging points is financed with 80 million euros from the Recovery and Resilience Fund through the “Charging Everywhere” program which has been launched since 11/5/2023 (https://fortizopantou.gov.gr.) .

Charging points are installed in urban and peri-urban locations and points of interest, such as airports, highways, ports and parking lots.

In addition, the “Move Electric” program also subsidizes, apart from electric vehicles, chargers for private use for home or business use.
