Armani overcame Maccabi in the first game of “Pavlos Giannakopoulos”, with the Italian team waiting for their opponent in the final, in order to fight for the trophy of the tournament.
Kyle Hines, one of the leaders of Armani, spoke to the Eurohoops camera and firstly spoke about the great importance that this tournament has for the participants.
“It is a great opportunity to play with big clubs, but also to honor a great leader, such as Pavlos Giannakopoulos, not only for Panathinaikos, but for basketball in general. As a player who has played in Greece and who knows the history of basketball here, it’s an honor to play in this EuroLeague,” he said, with the American then talking about what he expects to see in the new season’s EuroLeague.
“It’s going to be one of the most competitive years we’ve seen so far. Every team has great players, there won’t be an easy night wherever we play. We will enjoy it, and so will the world. It’s going to be a great year”
36-year-old Kyle Hines is now one of the legends of the Euroleague. But what motivates him even today?
“The victory. The thirst to win races and titles. That’s what keeps me going in all the mornings, in preparation, in training. For me, winning is all that matters. I want to keep winning and that’s all that matters. I hope to achieve this again this year and in the future”, he said.
Finally, the discussion turned to his years in Greece and Olympiakos (2011-2013), with Kyle Hines, who won two consecutive EuroLeague titles in Piraeus, having only good things to remember!
“Olympic! I played here for two seasons and I have great memories and some of the best moments of my life were spent here. Honestly, every time I arrive at the airport I remember all these moments and how special Greece is”.
Tomas on Eurohoops: “I always love going back to OAKA”
DeSean Thomas, on the other hand, spoke to Eurohoops and could not hide his joy at his return to OAKA, even as an opponent.
“I always like to return to OAKA. I spent two wonderful years at Panathinaikos. They have been wonderful to my family. The love and passion they have for me is incredible. There’s history in the two years I’ve spent here,” he said, with the American next standing in this year’s EuroLeague.
“She is interesting. Many teams were strengthened and it will be special. It will be a long season and every game will be difficult. It will be a very competitive season and that’s what we’re waiting to see.”
Finally, speaking about himself, he emphasized: “I try to be me, improve and have fun. I am also happy with the opportunities that have come my way and God has blessed me with these great teams that I have played for.
