With the KKE in the counterattack for the health of the people, against the criminal strategy of the EU (VIDEO – PHOTOS)

In the field of Mental Health and more specifically of the reactionary “psychiatric reform” stood the Katerina Roubou, psychiatrist and member of the Board of Directors of the Workers’ Union at PSNA Dafni, noting that developments in this area should also be a voting criterion in the European elections. He recalled that in Greece the reform actually began with the country’s accession to the EU in 1981, while in 1999 the national program called “Psyhargos” was put into operation, and in 2000 the so-called “de-assimilation” officially began.

And, he noted that today “the government of the ND, using the legal arsenal that all previous governments have handed over to it, is escalating the attack”, which is proven by the declarations of the competent deputy minister for Mental Health issues, D. Vartzopoulos. These “testify that the goal is to implement to the letter the EU guidelines for the gift of Mental Health to NGOs, AMKE and private individuals”.

Katerina Roubou analyzed these goals, and among other things, she focused on the plans for “the operation of a Unified Network of Mental Health Services (EDYPSY), an administratively centralized network, which includes public services and private individuals, the abolition of 2 of the 3 remaining special psychiatric hospitals of the National Health Service to give even more space to the development of private beds, which already number 4,700, in contrast to the 900 beds in the National Health Service”.

He also mentioned the De-Addiction sector, where “with the amalgamation of all the organizations in an NPID named the National Organization for the Prevention and Treatment of Addiction (EOPAE), programs with “writing samples” in treatment and reintegration”. And, he pointed out that these announcements serve a policy within the EU, with the main axes being the medicalization of a social phenomenon, the above reinforcement of “harm reduction” as opposed to the integrated therapeutic approach, the “cost – benefit” policy.

In conclusion, he underlined the special importance that the KKE has always given to mental health, highlighting that “it is the only party that leads the struggles and puts claims on the basis of a comprehensive proposal that meets modern needs, precisely because we consider that individual mental health is a social right”.
