Argyro Kalliafa is the granddaughter of Tassos Kavadias, the unforgettable actress of Greek cinema.

She is a fashion designer. When she was in her second year of studies, she took part in the international design competition “Triumph Inspiration Awards 2010”, of the well-known underwear company and even won an award as her design stood out among 25 others.

This was followed by articles in Italian Vogue, an interview by Aljazeera and an award from Athens Exclusive designers week.

She herself dispels the “myth” that wanted her grandmother, Tasso Kavadias, to be tough, as she was in her unique roles in Greek cinema, and in her personal life.

Tasso Kavadia was my grandmother’s cousin. In fact, my grandmother had a complaint, because I keep mentioning Tasso and not her. Tasso Kavadia was very sweet, had dignity and morals. It was very different from the movies. Up close she was a quiet force“, he initially reported.

“I’ve heard stories where they saw her on the street and made the cross. When I have a strict style, they might say to me: ‘come on Tasso, stop,'” he added.

Among other things, she also referred to her professional affairs, but also to the health problem that plagued her.

“When I was little, I used to act in plays and write scripts. I always had a much better time drawing. I did my first show at 19.

When I was starting out I was very influenced by beauty standards. There were stylists who would tell you ‘you need to be thinner,'” she pointed out.

“The problem of anorexia nervosa started at 21. I had reached 42 kg. There were days when I ate half a cookie,” revealed Argyro Kalliafa.

“In 2017 I did ‘reborn’, a collection with which I wanted to say that it is important to be healthy and strong and not to follow the norm”, he concluded.
