After finishing school, she studied acting at the Giorgos Kimoulis Drama School, from which she graduated in 2006. In an interview on Bettis Maggira’s show, she confessed that:I became an actor to discover myself and break my shame. Of course there were difficult times. All professions now experience the conditions that actors experience, every six months you are looking for a job. I have been disappointed many times by the profession. I like to talk about people and love.”

Course in acting

During her career she has participated in several Greek TV series, among them: “Delicious Girls’ School”, “To Soi Su”, “The Familia” and “Do what you sleep”.

Ioanna Asimakopoulou was loved by the television audience, through her participation in the Alpha comedy series “The Soi Su”. In an interview with TV Ethnos magazine, she mentioned the successful series: “I will talk to you about the last shoot, where I could hardly speak from crying. Fortunately, the writers had written that Antonia was crying throughout the episode, so I put all the emotion into the role. Those were five years, you don’t pass them that easily, without being touched.”

Too many women identified with this role. I received almost daily messages in which they wrote to me what they were doing with their mothers-in-law, with their mothers-in-law. Other times they asked me to react towards Alexandra, as if they wanted me to take their blood back for what they themselves were taking from their own mothers-in-law. Regarding the episodes with in vitro fertilization and adoption, I really didn’t imagine the impact it would have.

I talked to women who have been trying for years to have a child and I learned a lot. When the episodes started playing, the messages I received were truly among the most beautiful and touching. I have kept almost all of them. They wrote to me that they are happy that someone approaches such a subject with such delicacy,” he continued.

“I also wanted to do different things”

Her presence in the theater is also important. Among others, he has taken part in the shows: “I’ll Make You Queen”, “Lady Julia”, “The Noose”, “The Odd Couple” and “The Imaginary Patient”.

“The theater manages to bring out emotions that you haven’t felt and you fight your shame. You put things from yourself but I always have the security of the role. I also wanted to do different things.

The TV offers were for comedic roles, but in the theater I had done many dramatic performances. But the truth is that the treatment is the same and it’s nice to change because by changing you evolve. After all, even comedy has drama in it“, she had explained in her interview with Eleni Menegaki.

Her personal life

Ioanna Asimakopoulou has chosen to keep her personal life out of the public eye.

“In our time there are many dark moments. I am very influenced by those around me and by my friends. It is my choice to protect my personal life, I don’t hide it, but I feel more comfortable talking about my business.

I have nothing to hide but I haven’t found the reason. My family never pressured me to get married and have children. I understood from a very young age that the world is patriarchal”, she had explained as a guest on the show of Nancy Zambetoglou and Thanasis Anagnostopoulos.

“Humor is a shield”

“In my life I laugh a lot. All my friends have a sense of humor. And I ask this in my relationships as well. We usually ask the other person for what we have.

Humor is a shield and has saved me from many situations in my life. Anger is not only a negative emotion but it is also a positive one, because if we don’t get angry with things, we won’t change them”, she had noted in her interview with Eleni Menegaki.
