Anumber of vehicles which have not passed technical inspection in Greece is not big but… huge. According to official data released by the President of the Private KTEO Kostas Vikas, more than 2.8 million (almost 32% of vehicles in circulation) have not been inspected, which means that a large percentage of them are a public risk.
The numbers are not only shocking but also oxymoronwhen on the one hand we talk about green growth and pollution and on the other hand, while the legislation exists it is not implemented, with the result that every day we all play our lives crown – letters.

“THE KTEO institution is suffering the last 40 years. Now the situation is reaching the limits of decay. There is a sick situation, which stems from the lack of supervision that exists both for the vehicles in circulation and for the proper operation of the KTEOs.
Today we have a situation, 3 million vehicles out of process the last 15 years. And on the other hand we have an aging fleet of average age at 17 years. And we also have an efficiency in KTEOs which is not consistent with this reality».

Then the Kostas Vikas he spoke about the foreign road safety inspection and the percentage of vehicles that do not pass safety inspection and compared them with Greece:We have a national average of severe deficiencies around 4.5% when the rest Europe ranges at 15%. Electronic crossing should be implemented immediately in order to remotely detect uncontrolled vehicles in a very easy way».
Finally, the President of the private KTEOs also referred to the huge abstention, regarding the emissions card up to 70% while he touched on the issue of pollutants: “It is an oxymoron that our State is trying to make the transition to electric drive and at the same time not to control the pollutants from the old and polluting cars».
