European Parliament: Requests the annulment of the Turkish-Libyan memorandum

Specifically, the MEPs voted to cancel the Turkish-Libyan memorandum with 454 votes in favor against 130 against.

One day after the signing of the Greece-Egypt memorandum, the European Parliament requests that the Turkish-Libyan memorandum be cancelled.

Specifically, MEPs voted to cancel the Turkish-Libyan memorandum with 454 votes in favor against 130 against and 54 abstentions.

MEPs are calling for an end to foreign intervention on Libyan soil, while they are asking Russia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates to withdraw troops from the country.

The European Parliament wishes to appoint as a matter of priority a special representative of the Union for Libya, but also a road map for carrying out free and fair elections.

It should be noted that the Turkish-Libyan memorandum has been denounced by Greece and European countries as illegal.

At the same time, the Turkish leadership has been deeply disturbed by the signing of the Greece-Egypt agreement on the definition of Search and Rescue areas, which are now identified with the FIRs of Athens and Cairo. In other words, the two countries recognize that the area south of Crete and the Eastern Aegean up to the Egyptian coast is exclusively controlled by them
