Giorgia Meloni announced a while ago from Pescara in central Italy that she will be a candidate in the European elections with her party “Brothers of Italy”. He added that he will be in charge of the party’s ballots in all the country’s constituencies.

“If the Italians believe that we are working efficiently, I ask them to go and vote. I ask them to vote for ‘Brothers of Italy’ and write only my name, Georgia, on the ballot,” said the Italian Prime Minister.

“I have always considered myself a soldier and when I have to, I have no qualms, I always go to the front line,” he added.

Meloni also emphasized that “she is not going to take a single minute out of her governmental activity to devote to the election campaign”, but that she “has confidence that her party will support her in this effort”.

“If the Italians think we are working efficiently, I ask them to go and vote”

“We will defend the borders, sovereignty, freedom in Europe as well” he emphasized afterwards. “We want a European Union that does fewer things, but more efficiently. We want a Union with a foreign policy and a defense policy, which will give it a central role in all areas with crisis points. We want a European pillar of NATO to be built to better support European interests, especially on the south side of the Atlantic Alliance and in the Mediterranean. We want European chains to be created to supply us with strategic raw materials and, finally, we believe that the demographic challenge must be addressed”, emphasized the Italian Prime Minister.

First by far is the party

It is recalled that based on a poll conducted in March on behalf of Euronews, the “Brothers of Italy” party is first by a margin. In more detail, Meloni’s party receives 27% of the voting intention. As far as the conservative coalition that governs Italy is concerned, Matteo Salvini’s League and Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italia “convince” exactly the same percentage of citizens, i.e. 8.2% of respondents.

As for the political opposition forces, the center-left Democratic Party is at 19% and the Five Star Movement at 17.4%.

They are followed by the alliance of the Italian Left and environmentalists, with 4.1% and the two small centrist parties Live Italy – of former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi – with 3.4% and Azione (Action) with 3%.
