Those listening to the show that night in 1997 could not believe that a man was publicly confessing to killing 12 women.

An alleged one serial killer had shocked listeners after calling into the radio show ‘The Howard Stern Show’, stating that killed 12 prostitutes.

Those listening to the show that night in 1997 could not believe that a man was publicly confessing to killing 12 women.

An unidentified man — who told the host to refer to him as “Clay” — called the show and claimed he killed 12 women.

He was, in fact, calmly giving answers to what the radio producers asked him about him and also the reason why – as he claimed – he killed people.

Several years later, this conversation made the rounds on the internet, and even today anyone who hears it gets the chills.

But the big question, even after all these years, remains: Was he telling the truth?

What he had said on the radio

The man who called into the show had said he chose to kill the women because of a “sense of power” he gained from it all.

He went on to claim that he had planned to leave evidence for the police at the crime scenes, but ultimately did not.

“I never sent the details, you know, I wanted to add my little signature,” he added.

When asked about the timeline of his alleged murders, Clay told his producer that he hadn’t killed in the last year. When the host asked him if he was planning to kill himself, Clay said, “If I killed myself, I’d miss the next Batman movie.”

Howard then asked him if he still wanted to kill women and Clay replied, “Sure.” After the producers asked him if he did this because of a childhood trauma he said: That he wasn’t abused as a child.

He revealed that he used a hammer for his murders and killed them after having sex with them.

Who was Clay anyway?

It remains an unsolved mystery who the man was who called that night.

According to Criminal Minds, a former taxi driver has been charged with the murder of 30-year-old Cheryl Lewis, a prostitute who was found dead in areas around New Orleans between 1991 and 1996.

Ellwood was sentenced to life in prison for this murder after the authorities were able to find evidence and arrest him in 1997, while he was suspected of 15 other murders.

So many speculated that he was the man who called the radio show as “Clay”, but this was never confirmed or commented on by authorities.
