American Media: Deterioration of Charles’ health and preparations for the royal funeral

“Of course he is determined to beat it (cancer) and everyone has fallen for him. Everyone remains optimistic, but he is really, really sick. More than they let on,” a source described as an old friend of the royal family told The Daily Beast.

It is recalled that King Charles has never revealed what cancer he is suffering from, but admitted that it was not prostate cancer, which is one of the most treatable forms of the disease.

The Palace has remained tight-lipped about the health of the 75-year-old monarch. But experts and political commentators who have spoken publicly say the king is “responding very well” to treatment.

But at the same time, as reported by the American network, aides to King Charles regularly review copies of a document of several hundred pages describing his royal funeral plans, which was called “Operation Menai Bridge”.

“The plans have been ‘dusted off’ and are being actively updated. It’s to be expected since the king has been diagnosed with cancer,” the source told The Daily Beast.

The highly detailed documents were created the day after Queen Elizabeth’s funeral on September 8, 2022. British officials confirmed to the Daily Beast that “Operation Menai Bridge” is regularly updated, but stressed that this is a formality and that “it would be unreasonable to one draws any conclusions’ from this fact.

All members of the royal family have up-to-date plans for their funerals categorized by bridge-based codes. For example the plan for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral was called Operation London Bridge.

King Charles’ death plan is named after the suspension bridge that connects the island of Anglesey to mainland Wales.

“Of course they are looking at every aspect of the Menai Bridge operation. The Queen’s funeral went very well and set the bar high. It’s not an emotional thing. It’s a job, which is taken very seriously,” said a senior official involved in planning royal funerals.
