Based on the report, the Kremlin has already taken its measures by already looking for his successor.

Aides said the Chechen leader had gone to the hospital to see an uncle and released photos of the visit. However, the newspaper Novaya Gazeta writes that this was a pretext in order to remain hidden that he himself was hospitalized.

The diagnosis was reportedly made in January 2019

According to the publication, doctors diagnosed in January 2019 that Mr Kadyrov suffering from necrotizing pancreatitis. In very severe cases of acute pancreatitis, admission to an intensive care unit is necessary, because the pancreas has undergone necrosis.

Kadyrov’s health began to deteriorate rapidly in the spring of 2022, the paper said, causing him to cancel several television appearances.

In September 2023, the Russian newspaper reported that Mr Kadyrov was treated at Moscow for about a month, due to acute pulmonary failure, following an overdose of hypnotics which he allegedly took to relieve pain.
