Greta Thunberg is on trial after she disobeyed a police order to stop blocking the entrance to Sweden’s parliament during a climate protest.

Greta Thunberg and a small group of activists blocked the main entrance of Sweden’s parliament during protests that began on March 11 and lasted for several days.

Deputies could access the building through secondary doors.

The activist was removed by police on March 12 and 14 after she refused to leave the scene as asked.

She was charged with two counts of civil disobedience, with Thunberg denying the charge, according to court documents seen by AFP.

“The trial date has been set for May 8,” a court official told AFP today.

In February, a judge in London decided to drop charges against Greta Thunberg for disturbing public order during a demonstration against the hydrocarbon industry in October.

The judge had assessed that the police carried out excessive repression.

The Swedish activist was twice convicted by Swedish courts, in July and October 2023, of paying fines for civil disobedience during climate protests.
