Mayhem on flight: Passenger started punching flight attendants and police officers

--

The man, a Celtic fan, began swearing and punching the plane’s staff and police officers

Shocking footage has emerged of the wild brawl that broke out on an EasyJet flight from the UK to Turkey at the weekend.

As can be seen in the video, one of the passengers of the flight, wearing a shirt with white and green stripes, of the Celtic Football Club, began to punch the flight attendants who tried to restrain him, while he then got into a fight with the police who tried to remove him from the aircraft.

The enraged man can be heard swearing in the video at another passenger, the Daily Record reported. According to the newspaper, passengers reported that the Celtic fan was causing a disturbance throughout the flight.

“Before it all started, a flight attendant was trying to hold him in his seat for 20 minutes,” the passenger said.

“There was a cheer at the front of the plane when someone found out the result” of the Celtic football match, the passenger said. Then, “another boy told the guy it was a shame on her [φανέλα της Σέλτικ] and then he lost control.”

The man then jumped out of his seat, apparently trying to punch a Turkish police officer and a member of the plane’s crew, as other passengers tried to intervene to stop the fight.

Airline crew members also found an empty vodka bottle in the seat of the man who started the fight, possibly indicating the man had consumed alcohol.

The video shared online also shows a terrified little girl with pigtails, sitting about three rows back from where the fight broke out, panicking.

The man continued to try to throw punches as he made his way down the aisle of the plane, until he finally fell to the floor. But that didn’t stop him from stopping either.

A second video shared online showed the man in handcuffs with officers pulling him down the aisle trying to get him off the plane.

An Easyjet spokesman confirmed the incident, noting that police had to intervene by boarding the aircraft as soon as it landed due to the disruptive behavior of passengers.

“EasyJet crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure passenger safety is not compromised at all times. Although such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour,” the airline said.

“The safety and well-being of all customers and crew is always our highest priority.”
