Michigan: Brutal abuse of 93-year-old in nursing home – He beat her with a dirty diaper and squeezed her throat

--

The abuse of an elderly woman suffering from dementia in the care home she lives in is causing outrage and disgust.

A Michigan employee has been charged with assault and battery for allegedly beating a 93-year-old woman in her care — with the abuse caught on surveillance video, according to the New York Post.

Dontia Shawnra Arrington, 26, was charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult, torture with intent to inflict severe or extreme physical and mental pain and assault with intent to cause bodily harm in the stomach-churning incident at the Landings of Genesee Valley facility, WNEM reported -TV News.

He hits her with a dirty diaper

“You see how vulnerable the woman is from being hit with a 2- or 3-pound soiled diaper,” Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson told the agency.

“But that’s not enough. The employee put her hand around her neck in a choke hold, which can kill people, especially a 93-year-old.”

I was shocked,” Genesee County District Attorney David Layton told WNEM about the video. “I was disgusted and very angry,” he continued. “And I said to the chief assistant district attorney, ‘We’re going to have to charge this woman as hard as we can.'”

Arrington faces up to life in prison if convicted of all charges. She was ordered held on $45,000 bond and is expected back in court Thursday.
