The President said they were completely satisfied of the Republic of Cyprus and the Prime Minister of Greece with the conclusions of the Summit on Turkey. I believe they were NOT supposed to be happy with the text.

And it is possible that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of occupying Turkey freaked out upon hearing the news and issued one of its well-known threatening announcements. But he did it for the eyes of the world. The text of the conclusions does not oblige Turkey to do anything for the reunification of Cyprus, before grabbing the billions of the European Union (EU) again.

Mr. Christodoulidis emphasized that a “positive message” was sent to Ankara, and the conversion (of this message) into action “depends on progress in the Cyprus issue”.

The Cypriot President asserted that “from the beginning we set a goal, the essential interconnection of the Euro-Turkish with the Cypriot, and this is clearly evident from yesterday’s conclusions, but also from the discussion that took place”.

For his part, Mr. Mitsotakis stated that the conclusions are satisfactory for both Greece and Cyprusas they are based on the framework of the previous decisions of the European Council which also determines the way in which Euro-Turkish relations can be improved.

“It is clear – said the Greek Prime Minister – that the progress of Euro-Turkish relations is also affected by developments in the Cyprus conflictas evidenced by the relevant paragraph in the conclusion text.’

Greece and Cyprus are members of the European Union, a discredited and corrupt organization. They hold two seats at the table, and have the right of veto. Therefore, they cannot be satisfied with the current positions of the Summit. Because then there is a serious problem. To take the two leaders seriously, they need to use the power that EU membership offers them.

Yes, we understand that the Prime Minister will visit Turkey next month and wishes for “calm waters” in Greek-Turkish relations, in view of the summer tourist season.

But, when he receives a direct attack from Ankara for an implementation of his government’s decision on marine parks in the Cyclades and the Ionian, he must respond. Non-response or lukewarm response shows weakness. And Tayyip Erdoğan especially notices this and acts accordingly.

The Turkish reaction, of course, is unacceptable, stupid and dangerous. Because on the occasion of the marine parks, Turkey put its illegal claims in writing, once again, while according to information it sent a letter to the United Nations to try to legalize them, which cannot be done, although it should not we say never again.

The EU Summit it was an opportunity to set the whole nexus of Turkish threats. And set with determination. Because for how long, how long, Greece and Cyprus will turn the other cheek when they eat wood.

Close to the lukewarm announcement of our European partners, we had the very negative result of the vote in the Council of Europe for the acceptance of the accession of Kosovo and indeed with the help of the MPs of the New Democracy, headed by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Dora Bakoyannis.

The abstention of the former prime ministers, Alexis Tsipras and George A. Papandreou, is reprehensible. We expected it from the second, because he is always more royal than the king. Not from Mr. Tsipras.

Three MPs, Nina Kasimati of Syriza, Christiana Erotokritou of DIKO and Giorgos Loukaidis of AKEL, saved the honor of Greece and Cyprus, because the overwhelming majority of citizens in both countries do not support the recognition of Kosovo.

And they do not support it because they know that it is a very bad precedent for Cyprus first of all, but also for Thrace. The Turkish Cypriots have already celebrated the decision, as their appetites have whetted. And the Muslims in Thrace, who declare themselves Turks, when they feel confident in their strength, they will follow the example of Kosovo. But our friends in N.D. either they don’t understand or something else is going on, which I dare not try to guess.

But the God that Mrs. Bakoyannis believes in. This is what we call it in Cyprus. Doesn’t he have other work to do? Why did he have to serve the Germans at this critical time? And what are these commitments that compel it to have to support such unacceptable and separatist acts on the part of the Kosovars. Evidence abounds of their works during the war. We are talking about crimes against humanity.

Also, what message did they send to Vladimir Putin, the authoritarian president of Russia, who invaded Ukraine and owns a significant chunk of its territory? That he is entitled to keep the lands he seized by force of arms.

I wish – but I do not hope – that the foreign minister of Greece, when he is called to vote for Kosovo, will not follow in the footsteps of Mrs. Doras Bakoyannis. The position for abstinence is wrong. Mr. Mitsotakis must make the decision to change it.

Mrs. Bakoyannis committed a tragic national mistake, which we will find before us. Well, the Republic of Cyprus reacted and the President of the Republic of Cyprus must try to convince the Prime Minister of Greece, so that the crime against International Law fails with a ministerial vote.

POSTSCRIPT I: I heard very positive comments about the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Constantinos Kobos, at the Delphi conference, where every year the cream of Europe meets and discusses an agenda that also covers foreign policy. Mr. Kombos clearly presented the policy of the government of Nikos Christodoulidis on the Cyprus issue and the readiness of the Cypriot President to come to talks. It is Turkey that rejects dialogue, not the Republic of Cyprus. Mercy with the distortion of Cypriot positions. Mercy with the support (to Turkey) of people with Greek names. Finally, it is the land of invasion and occupation. Don’t provoke us. Those who do not want to help for a clean solution, sit on your eggs. Do not so blatantly support the conqueror…
