The 31-year-old surfer Laura Enever from Australia managed to “tame” a wave of 13.3 meters and enter the Guinness Book of Records.
Specifically, the 31-year-old managed to “tame” a 13.3-meter wave in Oahu, Hawaii last January, breaking a seven-year record.
“None of the previous times compare to this,” said the athlete.
Laura Enever improved the previous record – set by Brazilian Andrea Moller in 2016.
“I knew it was a huge wave when I saw it and then I realized it was definitely the biggest wave I’ve ever been ‘in’. I knew it was the wave of my life,” he added.
Laura Enever started her surfing career at the age of 11.
He won several junior competitions and then competed on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour for seven years.
He then decided to chase “big waves”.
Laura Enever improved the previous record – set by Brazilian Andrea Moller in 2016.
“Andrea Moller held this record before me and it’s an honor to hold this record and continue to promote big wave surfing,” he said. “And I know the next generation of female big wave surfers will do the same”
Seven-time world surfing champion Layne Beachley paid tribute to Laura Enever, saying “Any athlete who can ride a wave of this size is extraordinary.”
