The Hellenic Police participated, through the Attica Security Directorate and specifically the Property Crimes Department, in a pan-European police operation under the code name “MOBILE 6”, to combat the trafficking of stolen vehicles and their parts that are trafficked as spare parts.

The operation is part of the “Empact” priority and was implemented from 9 to 20 October 2023 under the coordination of FRONTEX with the support of Europol and Interpol.

400 police officers from the Balkans

A total of -400- police officers from European Union countries as well as from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia participated in it.

As a result of the action, 505 stolen vehicles, 2,000 stolen parts, 16 sea boats, 32 outboard motors and 248 forged documents were identified, while 209 migrant traffickers were also identified.

The investigations of EL.AS.

On the Greek side, intensive vehicle and person checks were carried out in areas of Attica, Thessaloniki, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Central Macedonia, Western Macedonia, Thessaly, Central Greece and Epirus as well as at the country’s border crossing points, to verify cases of illegal trafficking of immigrants, stolen vehicles, vehicles and spare parts.

During the inspections, a total of:

  • 153 stolen vehicles,
  • 4 forged stolen vehicles,
  • 16 migrant smugglers,
  • 73 illegal immigrants,
  • firearm and
  • 85 grams of cocaine, distributed in -119- improvised nylon packages.
