Derek Lunsford was crowned the new champion of Mr. Olympia, the first-class bodybuilding event
The new “king” of bodybuilding received threats to his physical integrity, his and his family’s Derek Lunsford after he “dethroned” his Iranian predecessor Hadi Chupan, with whom it is noted, they have the same coach (Hani Raband).
Derek Lunsford was crowned young on Saturday champion of Mr. Olympia for 2023, of her first ever bodybuilding event. Instead of continuing the celebrations, Lunsford took to the video to respond to the snide comments he’s been receiving.
In fact, the Instagram account of the new champion “fallen” for a certain period of time, probably due to the “flood” of comments he received.
“I just hope we can respect each other”
The 18th champion of Mr. Olympia praised all the competitors for their performance over the weekend, but felt the need to address the behavior of some fans on social media:
“I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT THERE IS A POINT THAT I GO OVER THE LINE AND THAT’S WHEN MY FAMILY IS INVOLVED. SO THERE ARE THREATS TO MY FAMILY OR MYSELF. THIS IS FAR OVER THE LIMITS.
»I CANNOT CONTROL WHAT OTHERS WILL DO OR SAY. AI ASK THAT WE ALL RESPECT EACH OTHER. I BELIEVE THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE SUPPORTING ME AND SUPPORTING ALL THE BODY BUILDERS. IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU ARE FROM THE USA OR FROM IRAN OR FROM BRAZIL OR FROM ANY PART OF THE WORLD, I BELIEVE THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE EVERYWHERE.”
Lunsford continued to talk about his relationship with Chupan. The day after the event Mr. Olympia, the two did a photo shoot for their mutual sponsor.
