THE Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had rushed to the English capital on Mondaywhere his wife’s father was fighting for his life.

As it became known, his funeral Wojtek Grabowski will take place in the next few days in the British capital.

THE Wojtek Grabowski born in 1933, to a family of famous Warsaw pharmacists.

During the war, his father, Mateusz Grabowski, found himself in Great Britain and 11-year-old Voytek stayed with his mother in occupied Poland, taking part in the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 as a liaison officer under the pseudonym “Okay.”
After the war, the father Mateusz brought his sons to Great Britain, where he took care of their thorough education and instilled in them an interest in Polish culture, as well as the need to promote it to the world.

THE Mateusz Grabowski founded the painting gallery “Grabowski Gallery” and supported various cultural institutions in London and Poland, including the National Museum in Warsaw, the Art Museum in Łódź, to which he donated 400 paintings, and the Apothecary Museum in Krakow, which he supported with an extremely valuable collection of medicinal vessels from the 16th and 17th centuries. He was also the founder and main donor of the “M. B. Grabowski Fund”.

After the death of his father, Voitek continued to manage the pharmacy chain and promote Polish culture in “Grabowski Galery II”. Throughout this period, he collected stamps and other objects with a Polish look made abroad, such as bookcases, maps, medals and china.

However, his greatest passion is numismatics related to John Paul II. His interest in this matter dates back to the day when Mr Karol Wojtyła proclaimed Pope John Paul II at the conclave of Rome.
