Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska will travel to London to attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, according to reports.
Zelenska, the wife of Volodymyr Zelenskyi, is among 500 heads of state and dignitaries who have been invited to Monday, as well as to a reception hosted by King Charles the day before, according to the Sun.
However, it is estimated that Volodymyr Zelensky will not accompany her to Britain. Zelenska is expected to fly back to Ukraine as soon as possible after the ceremony, a source told the same newspaper.
Her presence, the source notes, signals the friendship and mutual respect between Britain and Ukraine, as London is one of Kiev’s strongest allies.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has not been invited to the funeral. Russia is one of the few countries “snobbed” by Britain, along with Belarus and Myanmar. The blacklist also includes the leaders of Syria, Venezuela and the Taliban of Afghanistan.
