Queen Elizabeth: A ray of light “falling” from the sky onto the coffin of Queen Elizabeth was captured on camera, during the procession to carry her body to St. Giles in Edinburgh.
A striking image published by the Daily Mail shows a beam of light shining from the heavens in a straight line with the black hearse in which the Queen’s coffin was carried.
The photo was taken at the time of the procession led by Charles and his three brothers. As the national anthem played, the casket was brought in by a hearse as those in attendance watched in emotion.
The symbolic – for Britons – moment with the beam of light comes to add “to a series of signs following the announcement of Her Majesty’s death, the first of which comes in the form of a double rainbow over Buckingham Palace along with another rainbow at Windsor Castle.”
Unprecedented measures in London
At 8 p.m. on Sunday night a minute’s silence will be observed, before the Queen’s funeral at Westminster Abbey. In London, tens of thousands of people queue every day outside the palaces to leave a few flowers or a note in memory of Elizabeth.
Police sources estimate that as long as the popular pilgrimage to Elizabeth’s body lasts in the central streets of the British capital, there will be about two million people every dayj. Transport providers say travel planning will be essential as some areas will be almost inaccessible.
Authorities are advising people to avoid Green Park Tube station near Buckingham Palace, while some bus routes will be diverted due to road closures
The Queen’s funeral is likely to be one of the largest and most important international events which the UK has hosted for decades. Leaders from around the world are invited to Westminster Abbey for the ceremony on Monday 19 September.
