African dust: All of Athens turned yellow

--

Residents across the country are seeing incredible images today (23/4/24) due to the African dust that has covered everything!

In addition to the atmosphere that at times becomes suffocating due to the African dust, the images that see the light of day are also impressive.

Athens, the Acropolis but also many areas of the country such as Preveza, have… changed color.

Experts recommend patience, as the African dust that has plagued us so much lately is getting ready to leave us…

Similar images are recorded in Preveza where, in addition to the dust, the residents also had to deal with the rain of mud:

According to EMY Director Thodoris Kolydas, the African dust has started to recede on Wednesday morning (4/24/24)…

In the last post he made on Facebook, Mr. Kolydas characterizes the “cocktail” of dust with high temperatures as… thirty – dirty.

“In Greece, we have temperature contrasts of all types of weather. From 10-15 °C in the North, up to 30 °C (and more) in the South. As for the “dirty” this covers a large part, due to dust…” writes Thodoris Kolidas.

Detailed weather forecast for Wednesday

According to the meteorologists, the western, central and northern continental areas are forecast to have temporarily increased clouds with a few local rains until the afternoon.

Isolated storms will develop in the northwest during the early morning hours and again during the night.
In the rest of the country, sparse clouds are predicted, temporarily denser in the southern Aegean.
Meteorological conditions favor the transport of African dust mainly to the east and south.

Winds in the west, central and north will blow from westerly directions 4 to 6 Beaufort. In the rest of the areas they will initially blow from south directions 4 to 6 and locally in the eastern Aegean 7 to 8, but they will quickly weaken and turn to west southwest 3 to 5 and in the south 5 to 6 Beaufort.
The temperature will drop slightly in the west.
