Eden Hazard, former Chelsea and Real Madrid player, in an interview he gave on the sidelines of the 2023 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris, reiterated that it was time to change his life after years of sacrifice and suffering associated with many injuries:
“Now my life is perfect, I can do whatever I want. The decision was simple to make, I don’t regret it. I am with my family, enjoying my children. Plus it’s a perfect life, the decision was simple. It’s hard to explain, but today I feel good about myself, I feel happy. I have so many things outside of football that I’ve been able to assess them all calmly,” said Hazard, who announced his retirement this month.
“I didn’t like training anymore, leaving was the most logical option, also because I didn’t want to go play somewhere just for the money. I don’t miss football, I’ve always said I’ll stop when I stop having fun. I continue to watch football on TV when I can, but I also do other things.”
