The search for the nine Romanian paddleboarders who were missing in Kefalonia had a tragic end, as one of them was found dead
According to the coast guard, the Romanian rowers were gathered after an operation, from various parts of the southern part of Kefalonia, with the eight in good health.
However, according to ERT, one of them was found dead, with his death attributed to water absorption, as he had eaten too much.

According to the information, the 9 Romanians – men and women – took the stand-up paddleboards from Pessada to explore the coasts of the island. However, the large swell due to the 5 Beaufort and the currents, carried some of them quite far.
In fact, they were found scattered over a large area from the beaches of Trapezaki to Lourdas, several miles (7-8) away from Pessada.
Also, according to information, the unlucky rower was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the information from the Coast Guard, in order to locate the nine operators of stand-up paddleboards (SUP), searches were carried out under the coordination of EKSED by 1 PLS, 2 private boats and 1 parasailing ship, in the sea area south of Kefalonia.
