The position that the Greek economy will have one new additional fiscal space for the adoption of permanent and temporary measures, in order to support households and businesses, the Minister of Finance stated on Saturday morning, Christos Staikouras.

As Mr. Staikouras pointed out while speaking on the Open’s morning news show, the final announcements are expected to be made and specified by the Prime Minister in seven days from today, at the opening of 86th International Exhibition of Thessaloniki.

In a question about Fuel Pass 3the finance minister did not give a specific answer, contenting himself, however, with pointing out that “the first concern is to see the total amount of support for households and businesses”.

Regarding the energy crisis, in the wake of developments with the closure of the Nord Stream 1 pipeline and the “explosion” of oil and natural gas prices, the Minister of Finance spoke of a “global phenomenon that also affects our country” .

“There is a lot of uncertainty and ambiguity about oil and natural gas prices. We don’t know what will happen in 2023, much less how these prices will move even in the next month”, he added, while stressing that there will definitely be a new heating benefit.

Fuel Pass 2: About 3 million Greeks applied

At the same time, approximately 3 million (2,963,261) Greeks rushed to submit their application on the Fuel Pass 2 platform until September 1, in order to receive the aid amount to cover the cost of motor fuel consumption for the months of July, August and September .

It is reported that the amount given in total reaches 199,384,275 euros. In particular, the aid amount was determined based on article 67 of Law 4950/2022. In particular, for the months of July, August and September 2022, the credit amounted to the following amounts:

  • 100 euros using a digital debit card for eligible owners of vehicles, except motorcycles-mopeds, with main residence in the Regions of North Aegean, South Aegean, Ionian Islands, Crete, in the Regional Unit of Islands of the Region of Attica, in the Regional Unit of Sporades of the Region of Thessaly, in the Thassos Regional Unit of the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region, on the island of Samothraki of the Evros Regional Unit of the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region and on the island of Ammouliani of the Halkidiki Regional Unit of the Central Macedonia Region. The above amount is set at eighty-five (85) euros, if the beneficiary chooses to deposit into a bank account.
  • 80 euros using a digital debit card for eligible owners of vehicles, except motorcycles-mopeds, with a main residence in the rest of Greece. The above amount is set at sixty-five (65) euros, if the beneficiary chooses to deposit into a bank account.
  • 70 euros with the use of a digital debit card for eligible motorcycle-moped owners residing in the Regions of the North Aegean, South Aegean, Ionian Islands, Crete, in the Islands Regional Unit of the Attica Region, in the Sporades Regional Unit of the Thessaly Region, in the Thassos Regional Unit of of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, on the island of Samothraki of the Regional Unit of Evros of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and on the island of Ammouliani of the Regional Unit of Halkidiki of the Region of Central Macedonia. The above amount is set at fifty-five (55) euros, if the beneficiary chooses to deposit into a bank account.
  • 60 euros using a digital debit card for eligible motorcycle-moped owners with main residence in the rest of Greece. The above amount is forty-five (45) euros, if the beneficiary chooses a bank account deposit.

It is recalled that the beneficiaries were all natural persons, including freelancers, who are tax residents of Greece with a declared family income for the tax year 2021 of up to thirty thousand (30,000) euros, increased by three thousand (3,000) euros for the spouse or member cohabitation agreement and additionally by three thousand (3,000) euros for each dependent child of the household and up to the amount of forty-five thousand (45,000) euros.

Each natural person could only register one vehicle or motorcycle-moped and a prerequisite was that the vehicle, motorcycle-moped was in circulation, was insured and no road tax was due.
