Pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne received her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a glittering ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her debut album Let Go. As she told Variety she had visited the famous Avenue on her first trip to Los Angeles at the age of 16.
The Canadian singer recalled that visit during her speech as well, and emphasized: “I remember seeing these legendary names and never imagined that mine would be here too.. It’s so crazy!! This is probably one of the best days of my life.”
After thanking her Mod Sun fiance, producer John Feldmann, and Machine Gun collaborator Kelly, among others, Lavigne closed out her speech by saying:
“I hope that the next 16-year-old who visits Hollywood from a small town full of hopes and dreams will see this star and think, ‘Oh my God, my name could be there one day.’ Because it can,” he said. “What an amazing 20 years and I look forward to the next 20! Let’s go!”.
