Reduced by 14%, compared to the previous month, will be the electricity tariffs that reach consumers from today.
The press representative of EAC, Christina Papadopoulou, told StockWatch that “the reduction in the September bills includes the government’s measure to subsidize the increase in electricity, while it also covers the increase resulting from the return of VAT to 19% from 9% and amounts to 14% compared to one month before, or 15% compared to two months before”.
The consumption cost subsidy measure, which will last until December 2022, will benefit 449,000 households and 111,500 businesses.
Specifically, as of today, the VAT rate will be reset to 19% from 9% that was applicable for domestic consumers and 5% for vulnerable groups. As of today, the government’s measure to subsidize the cost of electricity consumption also applies.
Mrs. Papadopoulou explained that the discount on EAC bills that consumers will receive in September will concern electricity consumption for the July-August period. The discount will be through subsidizing the increase in the price of electricity during the two aforementioned months.
He emphasized that the subsidy will be tiered, depending on the level of consumption and will range from 50% – 85% for households and commercial and industrial charges with bi-monthly billings, as well as for uses for pumping water for irrigation and water supply or/ and rainwater harvesting, while the subsidy for vulnerable households amounts to 100% of price increases.
He noted that the goal of the state is the gradual subsidy up to 800 kWh so that consumers also become aware and make their own electricity savings.
General residential customers with code 01
For example, a residential customer would benefit with €65.72, i.e. without subsidy he would pay €322, with the subsidy he would pay €256.
For domestic use, the first 400 kWh (kilowatt hours) of monthly consumption will be subsidized up to 85%. The remaining 200 kWh of monthly consumption will be subsidized up to 75% and the remaining 200 kWh of monthly consumption will be subsidized up to 50%
In total, that is, 800 kWh are subsidized.
Over 800 kWh will not be subsidized.
Consumers who belong to the vulnerable population groups, have a subsidy of €68.72, that is, they have a subsidy of up to 100%.
Without the subsidy, they would pay €289, with the subsidy they would be asked to pay €220.
If a residential customer has a consumption of 1500 kWh, the subsidy will again be €65.
For bimonthly consumption up to 1500 kWh, there will be a subsidy of up to 85%.
For bi-monthly consumption, from 500-750 kWh, the subsidy reaches up to 75%, for bi-monthly consumption from 751-1500 kWh up to 50% and for bi-monthly consumption over 1500 kWh there will be no subsidy.
For example, code 10 commercial use chosen by small commercial customers to consume 1200 kWh without subsidy would pay €484, with subsidy it would pay around €417, so it has a subsidy of €67.
For industrial customers
For bimonthly consumption of industrial use up to 750 kWh, the subsidy is up to 85%, for bimonthly consumption over 751-1000 kWh the subsidy is up to 75%, for bimonthly consumption over 1001-1500 kWh the subsidy is up to 50% and for bimonthly consumption over 1500 kWh the subsidy is 0%.
For water pumps
For bimonthly consumption for water pumping, for the purpose of water supply and irrigation and/or rainwater pumping up to 1000 kWh, the subsidy is up to 85%, for bimonthly consumption from 501-750 kWh the subsidy is up to 75%, for bimonthly consumption from 751 -1000 kWh the subsidy is up to 50% and above 1001 kWh, the subsidy is zero.
