The purely electric Polestar 2 it is manufactured in China, where its selling price is close to 43,000 euros. How much do you think one owner had to pay for a battery change?

Mr. Huang, the owner of a Polestar 2 Long Range, was involved in a car accident, resulting in severe damage to his car’s battery pack. The mechanics informed him that they needed to be replaced and he took the vehicle to the dealership.

But there when he asked about the cost of replacing the batteries, the employee informed him how the price is 79,000 euros, automatically making it unprofitable to repair the car, as with 43,000 euros, he can buy a brand new model.

A local media contacted the specific agency wanting to cross-reference Mr. Huang’s words, with the employee stating that the “net” cost for replacing the battery pack is 57,900 eurosand that the remaining amount up to 79,000 euros, are other repairs. In contrast to these dealership prices, other Chinese manufacturers of electric cars and batteries, price this particular replacement at 14,500 euros, for the 80kWh battery.

Surely if a battery replacement costs that much, potential buyers of electric cars will decrease instead of increasing. It seems that there is still a long way to go before EV models can be found in every garage, with the first goal ofreducing the cost of batteries.
