The death of a high-ranking executive of the Russian oil company Lukoil raises questions.

Ravil Maganov, chairman of the board of Russia’s second-biggest oil producer Lukoil LKOH.MM, died on Thursday after fell from a hospital window in Moscow, a source familiar with the situation told Reuters. Lukoil is the largest private Russian oil company whose o Maganov was also vice president.

The death of Maganov, 67, has also been reported by some Russian media.

No immediate comment was available from Lukoil.

According to Russian media reports, he fell from a window on the 6th floor of the clinic where he was being treated. This is the Central Moscow Clinic where members of Russia’s political and business elite are treated and is called “the Kremlin clinic”.

In 2019, Maganov was, according to a statement from LUKOIL’s press service, awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky.

The prestigious award, given for lifetime achievements, remarkable social contribution and years of dedicated effort, was presented by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at the Moscow Kremlin.
