The President of EINAP, Matina Pagoni, spoke about the sudden death of the 19-year-old naval cadet, and as she said her body was weakened due to the coronavirus.

As Matina Pagoni said, “the microbe that caused food poisoning found room to attack the weakened body due to coronavirus” of 19-year-old Thalia.

“When you get sick even with simple symptoms – you don’t have to go through the disease severely – it weakens a lot and it takes a long time to recover. The body loses antibodies, i.e. it has no defense”Mrs. Pagoni pointed out.

“It can be explained scientifically. In a very weakened organism, into which another microbe enters, it is understood that it (the microbe) finds the space to dominate and create complications. It finds a weakened space and dominates.” added the president of EINAP.

Thalia’s funeral is tomorrow in Larissa

It is noted that the body of the 19-year-old naval cadet Thalia from Italy is finally expected to be transported by C-130 to Larissa today. The reason the transfer was delayed one day is because the forensic examination was carried out until late Tuesday afternoon.

The results of the necropsy they are expected to come out relatively soon, also following relevant pressures from the Greek side towards the Italian coroners, but the toxicology tests will be delayed as the related process is known to be particularly time-consuming.

Thalia’s body will be accompanied by her parents, who have been in Italy since the beginning under the care of the Navy.
