The Diocese of Thessaloniki participates in the action with the 100 lanterns with the mourning bell ringing in its Temples during the event.

At 20.00, in a move full of symbolism, one hundred lanterns will be used, to form the number 100, as many years since the Asia Minor Catastrophe.

The Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki participates in the action with the mourning bell ringing in its Holy Temples during the event. At 8:30 p.m., for five minutes, the bells of all the churches of the Metropolis will ring in a mournful rhythm, “to declare the presence of the Church and its participation in paying the debt owed to the martyrs, ethnomartyrs and in general to all those who were forced to die during the Asia Minor Catastrophe , on the one hand, to highlight those actions that will constitute a residual obstacle to the oblivion of historical memory and will act as springboards for reflection”.
