Palm Sunday today

His triumphal entry Jesus in Jerusalem, “sitting on a pole.” “Hosanna, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord”, exclaimed the crowd, who welcomed him with “the waves of palm trees”.

In commemoration of this event, after the end of the morning service, bay leaves are distributed to the faithful. In many parts of the Christian world, instead of bay leaves, olive or other tree leaves and palm branches are distributed, which is in accordance with the Gospels. The expression “after branches and branches”, which indicates the triumphant reception of someone or someone, has reference to this religious holiday.

In the evening in the churches, according to economy, the chant of Holy Monday is sung, where Joseph the Pangalos is honored and reference is made to the event of the dried fig.

Joseph the Pangalos was Abraham’s great-grandson and Jacob’s son. Especially beloved by his father, he was envied by his brother, fell out of favor, and was sold as a slave in Egypt. After many adventures, he is once a general lord in the Pharaoh’s Court. He was considered by the church as a foreshadowing of Christ, after he went through adventures that remind us of the Divine Martyrdom.

The hymn of the day is dedicated to Joseph and the parable of the dried fig. The two most famous hymns, attributed to Romanos the Melody, is the trope Behold the Bridegroom and the six-pack I see your nymph.

Gospel (Matthew 18-43)

On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus was hungry and after seeing a fruitless fig tree with only its leaves, he cursed it and it withered. His disciples admired his feat and he replied that if they have faith they will not only do the same, but also move mountains.
