Today, Saturday April 27, according to the Calendarwe celebrate the memory of the Hieromartyr Simeon bishop of Jerusalem.
The Holy Hieromartyr Simeon became the successor of Saint James the Brother († 62 AD), after the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans, in the year 70 AD. While overseeing in Jerusalem, during the reign of Emperor Trajan (98 – 117 AD), he was sent by the heretics to the supreme Atticus for his apostolic zeal. Simeon was accused not by Christian heretics, but by Jews.
After being captured, he was severely tortured and then led to death on a cross, in the year 107 AD, at the age of one hundred and twenty.
