Petrounias swept them all again: “King” of Europe for the 7th time

What can one say about Lefteris Petrounias. The Greek “gold” proved once again that he is the “King” of hoops by conquering the top for the 7th time in his career, at the European Championship in Rimini.

Winning the first place was a piece of cake for the Greek athlete, who succeeded and collected 15,000 points from the jury with his awesome presence. In the most difficult part of the program, Petrounias was kept for 3 seconds instead of 2 which was the limit, and with an amazing set… he swept them all.

This is clearly a huge success, but also a historic one, since he managed to leave behind the legendary Hungarian athlete Christian Berky, being the only athlete in the world who has managed to win seven titles in the same organ.

The emotion of both him and everyone who was there was huge with his presence on the first step of the podium. The Greek athlete is going through an amazing course and is prepared to continue his accolades in view of the Olympic Games in the summer.

This is Petrounias’ ninth overall medal. It counts apart from the seven gold medals and the conquest of two bronzes.

The ranking of the final:

Lefteris Petrounias (Greece) 15,000
Nikita Simonov (Azerbaijan) 14,900
Adem Asil (Turkey) 14,900
Vincent Heck (Austria) 14,800
Artur Avetisyan (Armenia) 14,800
Courtney Tulloch (UK) 14,700
Salvatore Maresca (Italy) 14,566
Ibrahim Colak (Turkey) 14,500
