After the silver medal in the 100m freestyle S8, Dimosthenis Michalentzakisit’s time to step up to the highest rung of the European podium. Tonight (Friday, 4/26) final, of 200m. mixed individual, of the European Para-Swimming championship, held in Madeira, the Greek paralympian finished in first place in a time of 2:26.30 and gave our country its sixth medal to date and its first gold. The silver medal was won by the Portuguese Diego Cancela with 2:27.82 and third by the Israeli Mark Malyar with 2:30.30.

Participation in the final, today the 5th day of the games, were also in the 50 backstroke S1, Dimitris Karypidis and Nikos Kontou and finished 4th in 1:28.12 and 5th in 1:40.66, respectively.

In the final of the 200 freestyle S5, Alexandros Lergios also participated, who finished in 8th place in 3:10.88, while Yannis Kostakis in the same event in the S3 category, finished in 5th place, in the morning preliminaries, in 4:19.55 and did not made it to the finals.

Tomorrow (Saturday, 27/4), the last day of the event, Efthymia Goulis (100m breaststroke SB8) enters the “battle”, Alexandros Lergios (100m freestyle S5) and Maria Tsakona (50m butterfly S6) are also competing.
