A 6.1-magnitude earthquake hit eastern Taiwan’s Hualien province today (early Saturday morning, local time), the local meteorological agency said.
So far no damage has been reported.
The earthquake was also felt in the capital, Taipei. The tremor came from a focal depth of 24.9 km.
More than 1,000 aftershocks have been recorded in Taiwan since a powerful 7.2-magnitude tremor struck earlier this month that killed 17 people.
