Easter: The prices of lamb and buns – What will the weather be like in Holy Week?

The traffic in the neighborhood butchers has not yet “warmed up” with the orders for the Easter table being limited. However, the departure of Easter tours has already begun.

The trend is Easter in the village and the economic solution, the purchase of the arrow directly from the producer.

“A lot of people will leave the urban centers and it shows that there is still no pulse from the world,” said Stefanos Trikellis, vice-president of the pan-Hellenic federation of butchers.

The Easter table will be more expensive by 6% this year, while the price of arrowroot may “bite” a bit during Holy Week, from 15 to 16 euros per kilo.

“The market shows that it has upward trends because there are few things and small ones. At Easter, the consumer wants a lamb of 8-10 kg, this year the lambs are huge and the small ones cost 1 euro more”, added Mr. Trikellis.

With the international price of cocoa at an all-time high, chocolate eggs are a huge outlay for Easter this year and traders are scrambling to absorb the price hikes to retain customers.

Easter buns will also be salty, especially those with added chocolate.

“This year the Easter bun will start at 5 euros and at 9 euros it will be with chocolate. It will be a bit tighter than last year because the chocolate has gone up, so the price of the bun will go up as well. We are talking five euros for half a kilo. In other words, the kilo will stop at ten euros,” said a baker.

Godfathers and godmothers have already gone to the market in search of the right candle for the beloved christening.

In any case, most consumers wait for the Easter gift to proceed with any purchases.

Unstable with rains and storms during Holy Week

The question of those who will leave as well as those who will stay is what time the Holy Week will be.

As the meteorologist of MEGA, Christina Rigou, said, the Holy Week will start with strong north winds.

On M. Monday to M. Wednesday there will be alternations of sun and clouds, with a temperature of 22-25°C while the winds will blow from the north in the Ionian 3-4bf and in the Aegean 6-8bf, locally 9bf on M. Tuesday.

Winds will ease on M. Thursday, when the weather will be clear. There will also be a retreat of 4-6bf northerlies while the temperature will rise to 24-28°C.

African dust will be present in the west and south.

From Friday to Saturday there will be showers during the warm hours of the day in the western and northern mountains, while more rain will occur on Saturday in Thrace and North Aegean.

West winds 4-6bf and M. Saturday to 7bf with a temperature of 23-25°C.
