Earthquake size 6.1 on the Richter scale occurred Friday night (early Saturday morning local time) in the province Hualien of the east Taiwanthe local weather service announced.
So far no damage has been reported, according to the Athens and Macedonian News Agency.
The earthquake it was also felt in the capital city of Taipei. The tremor came from a focal depth of 24.9 km.
More than 1,000 aftershocks have been recorded in Taiwan since a powerful 7.2-magnitude tremor struck earlier this month that killed 17 people.
