3 of the 10 defendants, who were arrested in the context of the investigation into the murder of the police officer George Lyggeridis, were sent to prison, and they apologized to the 4th investigator only for the charge of supply and possession of narcotics they face.
The remaining 7 were released with restrictive conditions.
Of the 10 defendants brought to court early this morning, only three were facing drug charges. The remaining 7 will be arraigned again at the weekend on other charges they have been charged with, including criminal organisation, the Lyggeridis murder and the explosions.
The “Swords of Damocles”
It is recalled that in the context of the police investigation, 63 members of a multi-member criminal organization, which committed criminal acts with a sports background, have been arrested, including the attack on Y.A.T. police officers. on December 7, 2023 in Rentis, resulting in the death of police chief Giorgos Lyggeridis.

In particular, the tight core of the criminal organization was made up of 8 people who also had a leadership role and were even characterized as “big”, since they had the universal and unquestionable acceptance and obedience of the junior members, aged 16 to 24, who were called “little” and were the impact force when making attacks.
