The Minister of Labor and Social Security was in Trizinia and Poros, Domna Michailidouat noon on Friday, April 26, 2024.

The Minister of Labor and Social Security spoke with residents of the area about the issues of daily life that concern them, their needs and the initiatives aimed at the further development and promotion of the island.

Mrs. Michailidou had the opportunity to discuss with workers who, from April 1, 2024, saw their income increase, due to the increase in the minimum wage and three years. He also met with women, with whom he discussed the need to further strengthen their position in the labor market.

Specifically, the Minister of Labor and Social Security said: “Through the prioritization we do, our goal is how to solve the issues that concern our fellow citizens directlyto improve it everyday life their. It is in this spirit that the special provision of its protection is included motherhood, which for a few days now self-employed mothers are also receiving. With this measure of justice, if the birth allowance is taken into account, the total amount that the self-employed will receive reaches up to 10,970 euros or up to 1,200 euros per month.”

As stated in the relevant announcement, the first stop of her visit was Galatas, where Mrs. Michailidou met with the mayor of Troizinia and Metano, Anastasios Mouyo, with whom they extensively discussed the issues that concern the local community. Afterwards, he went to Poros, where he had a meeting with the mayor of the island, George Koutouzis. The subjects of the discussion were the daily issues that preoccupy the inhabitants of the island and the prospects for the promotion and development of the place. In the afternoon of the same day, the Minister of Labor and Social Security visited the port of the island, where these days the 20th “East Med Yacht Show 2024” boat exhibition is being held, which every year attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world, while promoting maritime tourism.

Finally, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Domna Michailidou, stated: “Sustainable development and attracting investment, which will strengthen the labor market and the income of workers, are key cores of the policies implemented by the government. However, it is crucial that this development be based on the foundations that the times demand. Green growth and green jobs are today’s biggest challenge and opportunity. The government supports this transition in practice. In this context, the transformation of Poros, which will become the third “green” island of the country, through the GR-eco Islands program, is included.
