The 5th Police Literature Festival Agatha It is a fact! The countdown is finally over today too, April 26, 2024, at 19:00, the curtain rises in its Amphitheater Hellenic American Union with the presentation of his latest book sir Ian Rankin “What I don’t want to say.” The great Scottish author comes as a guest of the Festival and publications Metaichmium in a pre festival event that will be discussed!
The Festival, the only detective fiction event of this scope hosted by our country, started in 2018 on the initiative of its managers Monogram bookstore in Holargos and over the years it has evolved into a big festival that ends under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Athens, and with her participation Attica Metro and her ERT in a role Major Sponsor.
Every year, as part of the Festival, book presentations, speeches, seminars, workshops, theater performances and all kinds of events are organized with guests from Greece and abroad.
This year, during the Festival, major social issues will be discussed. Also, this year the Festival will be dominated by raising awareness of the difficulties faced by people with partial or total vision loss, as we plan for their full access to all events. A grandiose plan that we are very happy to watch come to fruition!

After the sir of detective fiction, the Ian Rankin, we will have the pleasure and honor of hosting famous writers from abroad on the event’s panels. From May 8 to June 5, the… crimes will spread to all the neighborhoods of Athens with daily events, while the climax of the Festival will be the three-day May 24, 25, 26, in the Serafion of the Municipality of Athens with a full-day program of book presentations, speeches, tributes, cinema, theater and musical performances and puzzle games for young and old.

“True Crime”, with their speakers Giannis Panousis (emeritus professor of criminology), Kostas Hasiotis (deputy police chief, former head of the Homicide Division), Pano Sombolo (journalist), Thanks Veramon (private researcher), on Thursday, May 9 at the Monogram Bookstore, Ymittou 17, Cholargos, at 19:00.
“Literary Routes: Crimes in Athens”, a walk in the historic center of the city, from Zappeio to Plaka, in places marked by real and imagined crimes, with the journalist and author Costa Stoforo, on Sunday, May 12, with a meeting point at the Statue of Byron in Zappeion, at 11:00.
“The Doctor in Detective Fiction: Detective, Expert, Perpetrator”, with their speakers Mission Accuracy (coroner), Elena Bolonasis (lawyer, criminologist, author), Dimitris Dikaios (psychiatrist) and the Esta Ciganou (endocrinologist, diabetologist), on Sunday, May 12, at the Monogram bookstore, Ymittou 17, Cholargos, at 18:00.
“The Art of Killing. Serial killers from fiction to reality.” An event under the auspices of the Center for the Study of Crime (CME) and with their speakers: Eri Ioannidou (Forensic psychologist MSc, head of the Forensic Psychology Lab, KME), Martha Lebesi (Sociologist, MDE Criminology, Director of KME), Panagiotis Papaioannou (Dr. of Criminology, Lawyer), Dionysis Hionis (Lawyer, MDE of Criminology, President of KME) and Dr. Photio Spyropoulos, (Professor of Criminal Law – PHILIPS UNIVERSITY, Vice-President of K.M.E.), on Friday, May 17, at Omikron2, Voutadon 42, Athens, at 19:00.
“Artificial intelligence in literature and everyday life”, a conversation with them Theofani Tasi (professor), Spyros Kakatsakis (lawyer and writer), Giannis Panousis (emeritus professor of criminology) and Dimitris Dimitriadis (digital creator), on Saturday, May 25, at the Serafion of the Municipality of Athens, at 17:00.
“Internet safety”, an open discussion by the group Matterz on cyberbullying and harassment, on Saturday, May 25, at the Serafion of the Municipality of Athens, at 6:30 p.m.
