“Unspeakably sick murder” by a 14-year-old girl: Her grandmother invited her to…

--

The brutal murder of Lily Lilley in 1998 had shaken her Britain. The most chilling fact about the tragic death of the 71-year-old woman was that her killer was her 14-year-old granddaughter, Sarah Davy, who had tortured her in a sadistic manner and then dumped her body in a canal.

The shocking case is back in the public eye as Davey, now 40, was released from prison last month.

The grandmother invited her for tea but the granddaughter tortured her to death…

The unfortunate woman lived alone in a detached house on the outskirts of Manchester. Her granddaughter, together with a friend of hers, had begun to visit the grandmother and keep her company.

Lily Lilley was murdered at the age of 71.

On the day of her murder, she had invited the teenage girls to tea. They tortured her to death. They sprayed her with shampoo causing her breathing difficulties, she was gagged so tightly that the woman choked because she swallowed her dentures and finally, they cut off her legs with a knife. They then dumped her body in a wheelie bin and dragged it to the nearest canal where they emptied it by throwing the body into the water.

The following days, they occupied the grandmother’s house. They used her phone to call their friends, while their pension money bought her crisps and chocolates. Davie was convicted in 1999. The judges had called her crime “an unspeakably sickening murder”.

A second chance… under close supervision for the rest of her life

As of March 23, she is out on parole. Her young age when she committed her grandmother’s murder had earned her parole eligibility seven times. However, she had breached the terms all seven times resulting in her returning to prison to continue serving her sentence.

A spokesman for the British Ministry of Justice said that Sarah Davy “will be under close supervision for the rest of her life and it is not out of the question that she will return to prison if she again violates the strict conditions of her release.”

A spokesman for the Judicial Parole Board explained that “the decisions of the Board they focus solely on the risk a prisoner could pose to the public if released and whether that risk is manageable in the community.”

Sarah Davy, on parole, gets a second chance at life. The expertise of psychologists who have followed her in prison have concluded that she has made great progress in managing her emotions, and her relationships with others.
