Katerina Lyggeridou spoke about the death of her much-loved cousin, George Lyggeridis who lost his life from a naval flare during the events of Rentis, stressing that “it is the duty of all of us and the Police to bring justice to the memory and soul of our hero, of George”.

“He was murdered unjustly and cowardly in the line of duty,” he said while speaking to SKAI while adding that “we all have a share of responsibility as citizens, because no one acts or speaks to suppress the violence.”

“We remain uninvolved because we are afraid of getting involved, until the door knocks on us and we lose one of our own people. When we see a criminal at 16, at 18, and we don’t do anything, but we continue to go to the stadiums normally. Do you know why this happens? Because we know that punishment will not come to these people and they will be free”, he said characteristically in a “broken” voice.

At the same time, he underlined: “What we are asking is that the guilty be punished and that we all help to end this criminality in society and fear, to bring peace and order. Let George’s sacrifice be the trigger for a safe society.”

Concluding, he underlines: “We should take an example from these children and not from the criminals.”
