On May 1 this year, the myCar platform for the payment of traffic fees by the month will be opened, as announced by the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Haris Theoharis, speaking today on the show “Connections” and the journalists Christina Vidou and Costas Papachliminzo.
Regarding tax declarations, Mr. Theocharis said that the platform for submission will open today. At the same time, he clarified that no extension will be given for the interconnection of cash registers with POS.
Specifically for the tax statementsMr. Theocharis explained that “as of today, April 25, 2024, the platform for submitting tax returns opens, with a deadline of July 26. The scheduled installments for paying off the debts are 8 and reach until February 2025, while if if someone chooses the one-time payment of the entire amount owed, he is entitled to a 3% discount”.
In addition, Mr. Haris Theoharis emphasized that “this year we had changes, mainly because we legislated a very important innovation, the automatic completion and submission of the tax return for many of our fellow citizens. So, now, even if someone forgets to submit their return on time, he is not in danger of incurring a fine, since the declaration will have been submitted automatically accountants and taxpayers, by opening the declaration process on April 25. By adjusting the deadlines, we can all fulfill our obligations on time, because we will not give any more extensions.”
In relation to POS and cash register interface issuethe Deputy Minister stressed that “no further extension is going to be given. This financial staff, this administration of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance does not give extensions. Our methodology is specific. We are starting immediately and we will make public how they will be done The audits will start with the ‘big fish’. We will not start with the small ones to end up with the big ones, because the big ones obviously have increased financial resources. However, 94% of the debtors have already completed the interconnection process or has made the appointment so that the issue is over by the end of April. From our side, as the Ministry of Finance, out of respect for the effort of these consistent people, we cannot discount the remaining 6%.”
Regarding the previous issue, Mr. Theocharis commented, especially for freelancers, that “whoever disputes the presumptive income, must prove it. His lifestyle must match this income, which is implicitly a mini ‘ Where do you come from? That is, you can’t declare 2 or 3 thousand euros as an annual income and live a completely different life in this case, but at the moment, once someone is checked, based on the rules of AADE, they cannot be checked again”.
Next, regarding the bank commissionsMr. Haris Theocharis described the issue as important, pointing out that “the booth pays a commission for each transaction. In the next few days, relevant legislation will come. We gave the market time to make the necessary arrangements, however it does not seem that this agreement it will be immediate. For us, time is over and that is why we are legislating in the next few days the reduction of bank fees for transactions up to 10 euros”.
About the Vehicle Traffic FeesMr. Theocharis stated that “from May 1, the process of paying the Fees per month will be activated. However, the fine provided for the case that someone moves his vehicle, while he has declared it stationary, is certainly valid as it is. And it is a a fine of 10,000 euros, because this is a very serious violation”.
Finally, commenting on what happened yesterday in the Greek Parliament, he characterized it as a sad and out-of-society event. “Some are trying to bring back a climate that we experienced in 2012 and 2013. We see people who are cut off from society. All they care about is hurting democracy. All of us, we have to think again about what parties we put in Parliament , what parties do we send to the European Parliament. We see people who, instead of promoting politics, seek to divert attention elsewhere,” added Mr. Theocharis.
