There had been a vulgar verbal confrontation between the two in the Plenary during the discussion of the request to waive the immunity of Kyriakos Velopoulos following a lawsuit filed by the retired Navy officer Efstathios Florosfather of the MP involved.

At that point K. Floros commented that justice is the final judge. The intervention of the independent MP provoked the reaction of the Hellenic Solution wing. K. Floros claims that he received a vulgar verbal attack from Vassilis Grammenos.

Then, just outside the Plenary, the independent MP grabbed him by the collar Basil Grammeno, punched him and threw him to the floor. Mr. Grammenos was taken to the Parliament clinic for first aid, while he was then transferred to the General Hospital, where it was found that he has suffered a broken nose. However, the Hellenic Solution in a statement denies the dialogue and maintains that the attack against its member of parliament was unprovoked.

Prosecution

The police authorities immediately proceeded to arrest of the independent MP inside the Parliament and they took him to the offices of the General Police Directorate of Attica based on article 157 of the Criminal Code for Violence against a political body or the Government.

Subsequently, K. Floros was transferred to the public prosecutor of Evelpidon, who prosecuted him for violence against a member of parliament during the performance of his duties (Article 157 of the Civil Code) as a felony.

The history

The episode happened while the Plenary was debating the request to lift his immunity Kyriakos Velopoulos after a lawsuit by the father of the deputy Floros regarding anonymous accounts on social media that insult him, while there is a years-long “vendetta” between the two sides.

Specifically, the feud between Kyriakos Velopoulos and the Floros family began a few years ago when Mr. Efstathios Floros, an officer of the of the Navy and co-founder – as he claims of the Hellenic Solution – was “disguised” by the party.

According to information, the plaintiff claims that Kyriakos Velopoulos and his close associates have set up fake accounts on the “dark” internet and are “executing” their political opponents. One of the victims – as he claims – is himself, with the well-known troll “ULTRA LISI NIKIFOROS” targeting him with vulgar posts about his sexual identity. Among the mildest comments he receives – according to him – they write “what business did you have in Syngrou in a sailor’s uniform”.

The lawsuit file was forwarded to Parliament about 10 days ago and the information states that it includes, among other things, dialogues from a group chat on social media that reinforce the plaintiff’s claims.

The conflict will even be taken to the courtrooms as the father of the independent MP has filed a lawsuit against the president of the Hellenic Solution for defamation.
